The Façade is made up of two artists passionate about illustration.
"We created La Façade in the spring of 2015, both driven by the desire to create products for a LGBTQ community. We wanted to create illustrations in which we could recognize ourselves. We are trying to create unique scenes that catch the eye. First of all, screen printing has brought us into the world of illustration. Then, we expanded our interests including digital printing and sewing by creating fully handcrafted cushion covers.
We had the passion, but time was running out. So it was in autumn 2015, during a trip, that the decisive choice to invest in what we really cared about occurred.
Our creations portray sensual portraits that draw inspiration from the queer and lesbian milieu. We like to play with the subtlety of eroticism, femininity and poetics. Our aestheticism oscillates between vintage flats and the art of tattooing.
Our belonging to Montreal is also reflected in our pencil stroke. We love this city that is so big and yet so familiar to those who decide to venture into its many neighborhoods. When we walk the streets, we feel at home and safe. The openness of the city to the LGBTQ inspires us and leads us to create even more for its community. "
