Charlatans make natural syrups and tonics, that is to say, no preservatives or dyes are added. To respect the ingredients used and extract all the scent, Les Charlatans use fruit juice, zest and sometimes spice or herbs. The syrups are used in drinks (cocktails, mocktails) in desserts or simply to sweeten a plain yogurt or scent a still or sparkling water!
Jeanne, the founder, from France, grew up with mint, blackcurrant and orgeat syrups and other perfumes added to water to offer children as a lemonade or alcohol when comes the hour of the aperitif. As soon as she arrived in Quebec, maple syrup added a new dimension to her gourmet imagination as she discovered that syrup can also be cooked. The idea was then born to make syrups with multiple flavors and varied to be served as a drink or accompany the preparation of a meal.
